Welcome to Saturn Stables of St. Catharines - where "just Horsin' around in Pelham" is our pass-time and we hope to make it yours as well!
Located on the Niagara Escarpment, just minutes from St. Catharines, Welland, Fonthill and Vineland, and just 20 minutes from Niagara Falls. The Bruce Trail divides our property, and when riding in our huge sand ring, you get a beautiful, nature-filled view. It's common to be sharing the riding area with the local deer population - and there are a lot of them. Don't worry - the horses are accustomed to the deer!
We offer boarding, riding lessons, public trail rides, horse camps (March Break, Summer & Christmas), birthday parties, clinics and more!
Niagara Riding Lessons
We offer riding lessons in english hunter, jumper and western. Specializing in beginner riders, we can take you to the next level. For those already accomplished, we have horses to meet your requirements in hunter, jumper, western as well.
Our class sizes are small - usually not more than 3 at a time. Students can start from age 6 and up. The time is 45 minutes to an hour on the horse, depending on the age of child, weather conditions etc., which will require around 2 hours at the farm.
You'll need long pants and a pair of shoes or boots with a minimum of 1/2" heel and gloves if the weather is cold. We can provide helmets, but it is recommended you supply your own if choosing to continue with lessons. It is mandatory you wear a helmet when riding our horses, regardless of age.
Niagara Trail Rides
Our rides go through Short Hills Provincial Park, country roads or our lower valley, depending on weather conditions and rider confidence. Public trail rides can be booked from 1~4 hours.
Ride, Wine & Dine
This is our signature ride – a wonderful idea for an enjoyable afternoon. This ride starts at our farm at 11am where you are introduced to your horse by grooming and tacking (with our help of course). We then set off for an enjoyable ride through the Shorthills Provincial Park ending up at Henry of Pelham Family Estate Winery. Here we secure the horses, have lunch and sample wine while enjoying conversation and the scenery. Then we set off for a ride back through the vineyards and through the Shorthills back to the farm. Usually arriving between 3 and 4 in the afternoon.
Customized Trail Ride Packages
Looking for something different to do – we can tailor a trail riding package to suit just the day you are looking for – whether it be a picnic in the park with the horses, a tour of several wineries on horseback or simply a lesson in combination with a trail ride. We aim to please. Just ask!
Trail Ride Requirements:
- Advanced booking required.
- Long pants recommended.
- Shoes or boots with a minum 1/2" heel (no running shoes).
- Helmets provided.
- Bug spray, glovbes, warm coat depending on weather conditions.
- Bottled water / snacks for longer rides.
- Riders must be at least 8 years of age.
- Maximum rider weight: 250 lbs.

Birthday Parties/Public Events with Horses: Summer dates are filling fast: Parties can take place at our farm, or we can bring the ponies to you. Or if you just need a horse for a function, promotion, event – let us know. We can working something out.
NEW: “Learn to Trail Ride with Confidence” Our latest package is for those that enjoy going on trail rides when vacationing and would like to do it with more confidence. This 8 lesson package is geared to teach you the basics of riding, handling the elements on a trail, handling the different temperaments of the horses and their willingness or lack of willingness to do what they’re told. The package includes two trail rides.
